Aaron Shust – Morning Rises Review

Next week worship leader Aaron Shust releases his new album Morning Rises. It is an album full of passionate songs that tell of God’s power, his sovereignty and his victory. Jesus’ love is very central and there is a strong biblical basis to the lyrics. If you are familiar with Aaron, who wrote the massively popular song My Saviour, My God; you will know what to expect –  these are mostly upbeat, energetic songs that you can sing along to, with catchy choruses and a contemporary worship sound. There is nothing here that will reinvent the wheel, but atthe same time, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. There are some slower, more reflective sings, such as my personal favourite, Satisfy, and there is also a fantastic version of the hillsong song Cornerstone, which Aaron makes his own.
I have had the album for a few weeks, and for most of the time it hasn’t left the cd player in my car, which is testament to the quality of this album. Well worth checking out when it is released next week.
Disclaimer : I got a free review copy from the record label. I did not have to write a positive review. I requested the review copy as I like Aaron’s music.
