Advent

Adore Him (Dec 1)

And the four living creatures, each of them with six wings, are full of eyes all around and within, and day and night they never cease to say, “Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come!” Revelation 4:8
The start of December sees us entering advent, the countdown to Christmas. It can be easy to get caught up in parties, presents and festivities. Christmas is a busy season. But advent is about awaiting the arrival of Jesus. During December as we build to Christmas day we remember that Jesus came that first Christmas and we look to His coming again. Advent should be a time of adoration. A time of focus on Jesus. A time of marvelling at the love of the God who was and is and is to come.
The angels in heaven know how worthy of adoration Jesus is, and in Revelation John records their unceasing hymn of praise. Yet we, who have experienced the eternity transforming forgiving love of Christ demonstrated by His death in our place on the cross are quick to let other things like turkey, crackers and pudding taken the centre of our Christmas celebrations when they should be all about Jesus.
This advent may we resolve to come and adore Jesus. To not get distracted by the busyness of the season. To keep Jesus at the centre, because adoring Him is what it is all meant to be about. He is the holky holy holy Lord who came to be with us and is coming again. He is the only spotless one. He is the King who loved us even when we were unlovable and unworthy of His affection. He is the reason we can have hope. He is the source of our joy. He is a solid rock for all who have put their trust in Him and He is worthy of all our adoration. So this advent join us in adoring Him. In taking time out to reflect on what Jesus has done for us, and to praise Him, to thank Him and give glory to Him. Come let us adore Him, Christ our Lord!
