Big Daddy Weave – Beautiful Offerings Review

Beautiful Offerings (out 18th September) is the latest album from Contemporary Christian Music mainstays Big DaddyWeave. They are back with the soft rock style that has served them so well since starting out in 2002.
The album starts with title track Beautiful Offerings, a song of devotion and commitment to worship God through all the seasons of life, the good and the bad, expressing a desire for our broken lives to be made into a beautiful offering to God.
My Story is a great reminder of the power our life stories have to testify to the victory of Jesus and how he uses regular people with struggles and problems and lavishes on us a grace that is greater than all our sin with a great little nod to the old hymn lyric “this is my story, this is my song, praising my Saviour all the day long”.
The victory and power of Jesus is a clear theme that comes across through this album, especially on one of my favourite songs Lion and the Lamb which powerfully contrasts the might of Jesus the lion of Judah fighting our battles with the sacrifice he made on the cross as the lamb slain for us.
There are some slower paced songs such as Already done which mix things up, and provide a great reminder of the salvation work that Jesus had already done for us on the cross, showing a love that seems “too good to be true”
You’re gonna love Him is a very evangelistic song perfect for sharing with non-believing friends who like radio friendly soft-rock, with a message of how Jesus loves us like no other can.
The regular album ends with the prayer/song Welcome which is a good intimate cry out for God to come and have His way among us as listeners.
The deluxe edition (which is a pet hate of mine – just make one version of your album rather than charging more for a couple of extra songs not deemed good enough for the regular album…) has three extra songs, including a good version of one of my current worship favourites, Good Good Father.
The light rock vibe is evident through the album and makes for easy listening music with very clear gospel focused lyrics which are easy to pick up and sing along with that will be a source of encouragement and hope to Christian listeners, with moments of intimate worship in the midst of songs where things get stripped back and pure praise pours out. If you are a Big Daddy Weave fan this is another good album from them, and if you haven’t heard them before Beautiful Offerings is definitely worth checking out for worshipful songs a little bit musically different to the anthem praise songs from the likes of Hillsong and Bethel.Big Daddy Weave_Beautiful Offerings_Final Cover[1]
