As I’m sure you’re already aware, there is a major popular uprising of the people in Egypt. Currently under an oppressive regime, the people want freedom.
I think there’s cause for urgency in this; There is a lot of civil unrest, which has given rise to many evils.
Noticeably the looting and murders. The police seems to have disappeared from the streets, and this security vacuum has lead to wide spread looting. Secondly there is the threat, if this uprising is a success, that there could be an Islamic government put in place. They have remained quiet throughout the chaos (Minus some chanting of ‘Allahu Akbar’ – however the Muslim brotherhood was shut up by the rest of protesters saying ‘Muslim, Christian; we’re all Egyptian) – and this could bode well for them. Although amid all this, it could be more likely that a moderate, progressive government will be put in place – but there is always the risk as Egypt is largely Muslim.
We need to pray for the situation. Prayer for the opposition; prayer for wisdom; prayer for safety; prayer for peace; Prayer for the poor become better of through this; prayer for our brothers and sisters there; prayer for our own country men and women stuck there; prayer for western governments to take appropriate action.
This situation has got a lot worse from what it was, and its still developing.
It is God alone who judges; he decides who will rise and who will fall. – Psalm 75:7
