Labelled Love

The world puts many labels on people. Labels that hurt. Labels that demoralise. Labels that break you down. Maybe you’ve had such a label put on you by society.

Maybe you’ve been called a failure, a loser or a waste of space.

Maybe you’ve been labelled as too fat.

Or too thin.

Or ugly.

Or plain.

Maybe you are seen as stupid.

Maybe people label you based on past failures.

An addict. An abuser. A cheat. A thief. A slapper.

Violent. Aggressive. Over-Emotive. Easy.

Maybe you are labelled based  on your social standing.

Maybe you are poor, or possibly rich.

Maybe you are looked down on.

Perhaps people view you as lesser based on where you work. Or where you live. Or what car you drive. Or because you don’t even have a car.

Maybe you’ve been told you are hopeless. Worthless. Insignificant.

If you can identify with any of those, or can think of any other sort of negative label you have been given (or indeed have given yourself) I want you to know this. God also has a label for you. And his label is simply this:

LOVED

No matter what you’ve done.

No matter how you look.

No matter where you come from.

No matter how many rooms your house has.

No matter how ‘intelligent’ you are.

No matter how undeserving you are.

God’s label for you is simply loved.

He loved you enough to send His only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not die but have eternal life (John 3:16). No matter what our past is, He awaits us with outstretch arms, running towards us like the father of the prodigal son. No matter what labels we have attached to us He takes us in, and lets us now that we are loved by the King of Kings.
