All4God Vision 4:Making the most of now

This section is probably fairly self explanatory. We live in the here and now, not the past or the future, so it makes sense to me that our main focus should be the here and now. We shouldn’t be consumed with worry about the future, living in past glories, or let past failures hold us back. Tomorrow is a chance, not a certainty, and so while obviously we can not neglect to plan for the future, neither can we neglect to live in the present. Rather than be consumed with thoughts of how we can serve God when we have grown in faith and ability, we need to simply get out and serve Him now. For it may be that the future never comes. Or it may be that we get caught in the trap of thinking “I’ll start tomorrow” (and when tomorrow comes, continuing to think “I’ll start tomorrow”.)
“Live wisely among those who are not believers, and make the most of every opportunity.” Colossians 4v5.
Yet too often in western Christianity there is not enough urgency. There is no strive to make the most of now among young people, and many of us are content to wait until we have gone through uni, got a job, and started earning money to start serving God by giving money to charity/the church. But service doesn’t have to be about giving money. And it doesn’t have to wait til we are mature in the faith (in China it is not unusual for people to start leading house churches soon after being saved). It doesn’t have to wait until we are financially secure. It just requires us to be available to God now.
