Devotions to help you live out your faith

I wrote a few weeks ago about how I wanted to do more posts on practical things we could do to live out our faith. At my church youth fellowship we have been looking at Tearfund’s Just People course, and as a result of that one of the girls shared a link to this site Labour Behind the Label. They campaign on behalf of the workers who make our clothes to try and get a fair deal for them, and they have a great in depth look at how different shops on the high street are doing with regards paying the people in third world countries who make the clothes, so that you can make informed decisions about where to buy your clothes. Because no matter how trendy the brand is, if they aren’t paying the workers who make the clothes a fair, living wage price it ain’t cool.
As well as providing updates on how brands are doing it provides contact details so you can let the stores that aren’t paying living wages know that you aren’t happy about that.
It may mean paying slightly more for your clothes, but it will also mean people made in the image of God aren’t exploited so you can have a cheap T-shirt.
“No, O people, the LORD has told you what is good,
and this is what he requires of you:
to do what is right, to love mercy,
and to walk humbly with your God.
Micah 6:8 – let’s resolve to do what is right, and take an interest in the rights and welfare of those who make the clothes we wear.
