Youth is not a barrier

In the world we live in young people tend to get looked down on by adults who think that because they are older they know best.

While in some situations that may be the case, in many others young people are better at coming at problems with a fresh new angle, fresh ideas and a new solution.

We live in the present, not the future. It is no good waiting until you are older to start living all for God

Bringing hope to the hopeless can’t be put off until you get married and have children.

Everyday we should be trying to make the world a better place, regardless of our age.

In 1 timothy 4 v12 Paul tells Timothy “Don’t let anyone think les of you because you are young. Be an example to all believers in what you teach, in the way you live, in your love, your faith and your purity”

Age is not a barrier to serving God, indeed Jesus said that anyone who does not receive the kingdom of God like a child will not enter it!

As a generation of young people passionate about God we need to be an example to “all believers”. Every hour about 800 children die of hunger (http://rehydrate.org/facts/ending_hunger.htm ), and 720 will die of HIV, almost all needlessly. If we want to bring about change and transformation for the billions suffering from poverty we have to be an example to all believers.

We have to make it happen. If not us, then who? No more sticking with the status quo.

Many of the disciples worked for their dad when Jesus called them, which suggests they were probably in their late teens (Source = Velvet Elvis by rob bell). And yet they went on to change the whole world.

What are you doing to make the most of now? Are you trying to hide behind the excuse of youth to put off changing the world? God used plenty of young people in the bible: David, Samuel, the disciples, Timothy, and Jonathan to give a few examples.

Live for God today, regardless of your age.
