What does it mean to live all for God?

{Seen as a load of you won’t have been here since the start, I thought I’d repost this to fill you in as to what the central meaning behind the site name is}

Living all for God isn’t about devoting yourself to hours of prayer or in depth bible study. Living all for God isn’t about reaching a level of super holiness where all your prayers get answered straight away.

Living all for God is about living your life in such a way that it is clear to all around you that you have put your faith in Jesus as your Lord and Saviour and are living for God your creator.

Living all for God is about saying “I’m not going to hold anything back.” It’s about surrendering everything to God. It’s about making yourself available to Him everyday, not just Sundays. It’s about being willing to put your neck on the line for Him. Risking your reputation for the sake of the kingdom.

It’s about saying “Jesus, there’s no other for me.” It’s about saying “You will not share your glory with another.” It’s about serving only one master – Jesus. Not the devil, not money, not the world, only Jesus.

Galatians 5v6 says that “What is important is faith expressing itself in love.” The first step in living fully, 100% for God is having faith that he is Lord of all, that he sent His Son to die for your sin, and that Jesus is the only way, the only truth and the only light.

The next step is to let your day to day life express that through acts of love. Be there for people in need. Don’t hold back from caring for others. Follow Christ’s example. Reach out to the sick, the oppressed, the disabled, the social outcasts. So often it is the little, simple things that make big, life changing differences.

And remember the words of Jesus in Matthew 25v40 ‘I tell you the truth, when you did it[Cared for/helped] to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!’

Living all for God is not about saying reading the Bible/praying/going to church is not important. They are! But read Matthew 25. It the end of it all you will be tested on how you lived your world, not how many verses you can quote, or how well you know your Biblical chronology. But without reading the Bible/praying/going to church you will be limiting the ability for your faith to grow, and making it easier for Satan to destroy it.

Living all for God is about saying that while these things are important, we should not put them above reaching out to others. Rather than setting up more prayer meetings, set up more outreach events. Rather than establish a “holy huddle” of Christian-only friends we need to look outwards, and befriend the multitude of unbelievers. It’s only when you know people who need to know Christ that you will have opportunities for effective evangelism. In today’s world standing at street corners warning of Hell and eternal punishment doesn’t work. To win new members for the kingdom we need to get practical. We need to live our lives in such a way as to show people they need Christ. Our lives should be causing people to ask questions.

Living all for God is about trusting Him in good times and in bad times. Living all for God isn’t easy. It isn’t safe. It won’t be without sacrifice. But it will be fulfilling – Jesus promises us he will give us “life in all its fullness”(John10v10). It will be rewarding, both in this life and the next (c.f. 1Timothy 4v8)

Most importantly, living all for God is essential if we are to be a revival generation, if we are to advance the kingdom of God and win new souls for the body of Christ.
