Where is _____?
Romans 10:14 says “But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them?”
It is up to us to tell them about God’s love. It is all very well being a good friend to them, looking for ways to practically love them and help them out. But if we never mention God to them they aren’t going to magically happen to find out about him. We could be the only Christian friend they have. If we don’t tell them, who will? And if we don’t tell them, how will they believe? And if they don’t believe, the sad fact is they aren’t going to be in heaven. And if we really care about them we should want them to have eternal life. Which means we need to talk to them about God, about what Jesus did for us on the cross and about how “everyone who calls on the name of the LORD will be saved” (Joel 2:32).
We are called to be ambassadors of Christ, not secret agents (see 2nd Corinthians 5:20). It is our job to tell others about God’s love, letting the light shine in the darkness, not keeping it hidden under a shade. So if we don’t want our arrival at heaven to come complete with questions about why people from our life aren’t there, let’s do what we can to invite them and tell them about God’s amazing, infinite love.
