I recently discovered a tactic to get free food from Dunkin’ Donuts, and as I am no longer able to take advantage of it given that I have moved back to a country that doesn’t run on Dunkin’ I thought I would share it with you all.
Step 1 – Go to Dunkin’ Donuts
Step 2 – Be ridiculously good looking
Step 3 – Have a foreign accent (I found the Northern Irish one works well, feel free to experiment if your nationality is different)
Step 4 – Place an order with the attractive young cashier of opposite gender to yourself – order only a drink, no food [side note: I recommend a Coolata, they taste great]
Step 5 – As they make your drink, as if you could get some Munchkins (little mini bites of donut)
Step 6 – Continue being ridiculously good looking
Step 7 – Receive a free bag of Munchkins I can vouch that this method has worked for me on several occasions, so if you live near a Dunkin’ Donuts go ahead and try it out to receive some free food. But great as a few mini donuts are, there is a much better free gift to be aware of. One that isn’t only available to those who are ridiculously good looking. One that isn’t only open to those who live near a Dunkin’ Donuts. One that isn’t limited to those of opposite gender to a cashier. One that can’t only be enjoyed by those who like donuts.
There is a gift that is available to all. A gift that is free for all. A gift that is needed by all. A gift that will cost you nothing to receive (although it will require that you give it your life). A gift that will last forever (right the way through eternity). A gift not from some cheap coffee shop but from heaven. A gift not dependent on you buying something first, but totally free, no strings attached. A gift given out of love. A gift of eternal life.
“For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. God did not send his Son into the world to condemn it, but to save it” John 3:16-17. That is what is worth celebrating this Christmas. That is what is worth sharing. This is what we need to let others know about. Not some cunning trick that a few people can take advantage of to get a tiny bit of free food from Dunkin Donuts, but the fact that God himself sent his Son to live among us, to die for us, to provide for us the gift of eternal life, to bring us from condemnation to salvation.
Isn’t it funny how at this time of the year people are so quick to discuss where to get the best bargains, what shop has the biggest discounts, where is offering the most free extras, how you can cut the cost of Christmas without missing out on all the trimmings, and yet so few people are discussing the best offer of all – eternal salvation, free for those who put their trust in Jesus? This Christmas, let’s try and make that the centre of our conversations.
