God's masterpiece
“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.” Ephesians 2:10
That verse tell us that we are God’s masterpiece. It is important that you get this, because it isn’t a message that the world tends to tell us too often. And I don’t know how many of you I’m speaking to right now, or even if this is an issue for any of you, but statistically it most probably is, because so often young people don’t feel good enough. Don’t feel pretty enough. There’s so much pressure from every photoshopped magazine cover to be thinner. To be more voluptuous. To have a clearer face. To have bigger muscles. And this isn’t just an issue for the girls, research shows many guys struggle with body image issues and eating disorders too. You are God’s masterpiece. Don’t let anyone ever tell you you aren’t good enough or attractive enough or thin enough. God says you are fearfully and wonderfully made. He knit you together in your mother’s womb. You are God’s masterpiece. You matter, and He values you so much that He sent his son to die that you may be saved to become alive. You are God’s masterpiece. When people try to tell you you need to look a certain way or wear certain clothes or be a size zero in order to matter remember that that is a lie. You are God’s masterpiece. We have been accepted by the One whose opinion matters and we don’t need to spend our lives chasing the acceptance of others. People will try to tell you that to be cool you have to go to the parties and get wasted and sleep around having fun while you are young – that is to quote one priest “bull”. God sees you as His masterpiece and you don’t need to live like the rest of the world full of sin, obeying Satan. We have been made alive with Christ and are no longer conformed to the ways of the world but are being transformed by God into a new person (Romans 12:2).
