Ever adoring (Dec 19)
There is a slogan “A dog is for life not just for Christmas” and I think as Christians we can get caught in the trap of thinking celebrating the birth of Jesus is just for Christmas. We put lots of energy and effort into Christmas services. We have all the carols and festive Bible readings. And then after Christmas there comes this massive anti-climax as it is all over for another year.
But God is not just with us at Christmas. He is with us always. through the Holy Spirit that Jesus promised before He ascended into heaven God is with us always. The Good News of Christmas is good news for the whole year. We can have peace with God all year. God and sinners are reconciled for eternity, not just for Christmas. And so we should be ever adoring. We should never stop worshipping or praising God for all He has done.
It is important to celebrate at Christmas and remember that God became man and came down to earth to reach out to us. But we should also be celebrating that fact each and every day. Our God is with us! Our God, the Mighty God, the Everlasting Father – He loves us so much that He came down to save us. Lets us people a people who are ever adoring of our God, and let that adoration be seen by those around us who do not yet know Him as their everlasting Father, that we may point them to Him.
